I am striving for peasant’s piety. To let politics and debates about the curia fall away and believe simply. Experience the sacraments in faith and trust. In a way, that is what we are all called to, to have faith like that of a child. I know also, though, that it’s not enough; to bury my nose in a missal and see my parish as just a place to receive the sacraments would be sloth. Much has been given to me and so much is expected. I have been given talents, intelligence, and the blessing of a good education. I must find a way to use these things in my faith, not because they are necessary or they make me holy, but because if not consecrated, they will be stumbling blocks.
